  China and Iran will build hydropower plant in Tajikistan
 

    According to foreign media reports, officials of Tajikistan’s Energy Department said, China will build hydropower plant in the neighbouring Tajikistan to help this Central Asian country out of the energy dilemma. 

      The official said the agreement was signed during the talks between Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Tajikistan counterpart. It is in this country that Hu Jintao participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit. 

      Tajikistan’s Energy Minister said, the Nurobad-2 hydropower plant under planning and construction was with an installed capacity of between 16 and 20 million kilowatts. He told reporters that their investment was estimated between 200 million and 3 00 million U.S. dollars. He said China will finance the construction of the project. Last winter, the temperature in Tajikistan dropped to minus 20 degrees and tens of thousands of Tajikistan had heating and electricity. This mountain country is located in the mountains of northern Afghanistan. The country also reduced the electricity supply to Tajik Aluminum Company, though not much.
